Folly Beach -- also known as "The Edge Of America" -- is a 7-mile long natural barrier island on the Atlantic coast. Folly Beach is located just eight miles south of historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, only 15 minutes via the Connector.

Folly Beach is the home of sea, sand, and surfing, historical and cultural sites; a maritime forest; Morris Island Lighthouse; great food; great times; and southern hospitality.

During the day you can enjoy the best surfing and water sports including fishing, crabbing and shrimping -- or just take it easy relaxing on the beach.

In the evening you can take advantage of the easy access to the restaurants and night-life Charleston promises. The short drive to Charleston adds to the appeal of Folly Beach, which consists of predominately residential housing, limited business, and several miles of walking beach.

Folly Beach is laid back and rustic, casual to the core, and perfect for your South Carolina beach wedding.

The Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier extends more than 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean with a covered area and access to nearby restrooms, gift shops, restaurants and tackle shop.

Folly Beach County Park fronts 4,000 feet of ocean and 2,000 feet of river. It offers parking, dressing rooms, outdoor showers, restrooms, a picnic area, a vending area and chair, raft and umbrella rentals. The park is located at the west end of Folly Beach.

The Folly Beach Washout offers the best surfing within 100 miles.
